Can you give the exact model numbers from SPD in CpuZ? It may be that you just need to reset your CMOS provided you have compatible RAM.

And the new memory? If you dont have it plugged in, just look for the model/part number on the RAM chip itself.

Your original memory is dual sided, and your new one isn't so that may explain the size difference. Have you tried the new RAM on its own? You may need to reset your CMOS to boot with new ram, but your board only officially supports up to 1066MHz and the new chip is 1600 so would be downgraded to 1066 and is not on the supported vendor list. If you have changed any settings in your BIOS and reset CMOS it may affect your OS install though.

Dual sided circuit board. It shouldn't matter. You may have to reset CMOS for your BIOS to accept the new RAM though, but it could mess up your OS install. If you are happy to back it up and restore OS if it fails then reset your CMOS. If not, it may be that the RAM just wont work otherwise.

If you havent touched your BIOS settings you shouldn't have a problem with OS when resetting, but you can never guarantee it.

Yeah it will work fine. Just check the board's spec to see compatible RAM https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/A68HMK/specifications/
